Electric Light Orchestra – Mr. Blue Sky

From the seventh studio album, ‘Out Of The Blue’ from 1978, Jeff Lynne wrote this song while staying in a Swiss chalet. It was cold, cloudy and rainy for two weeks and he wasn’t getting any inspiration to write. He says,

“It was dark and misty for 2 weeks, and I didn’t come up with a thing. Suddenly the sun shone and it was, ‘Wow, look at those beautiful Alps.’ I wrote Mr. Blue Sky and 13 other songs in the next 2 weeks.”

Out of that, came the album and the Top 40 hit, “Mr. Blue Sky” which peaked at #35 on the Hot 100.

It’s also been in several movies like,  Megamind, Role ModelsEternal Sunshine of the Spotless MindPaul Blart: Mall Cop, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and others.
