Waterloo Gang Member Facing Federal Gun Charge

Authorities have arrested a Waterloo teen on a federal weapon charge and they say it’s a sign of an ongoing feud between local gangs.

Waterloo police pulled over a car containing Cory Dunn Jr. late last week and found a handgun in the vehicle that had been stolen in Arkansas.  An officer attached to a federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives(ATF) task force then petitioned a federal court to charge Dunn with being a drug user in possession of a firearm.

Dunn’s arrest came after what police say was a series of social media taunts pertaining to hostilities between two neighborhood groups — one called “500,” and the other called “400.”  Authorities say Dunn is affiliated with the “500” gang.
