Canadian band, Skylark, had their biggest hit in the U.S. because of the Detroit radio stations getting the single from across the border and playing. It how a lot of bands from Canada got started with a following in the America. “Wildflower” is a song written by Doug Edwards and Dave Richardson in 1972 after reading Edwards’ poem of the same name.

A Canadian station played it as an album cut from the band’s debut for a few months before Capitol Records sent a single version to the Detroit station where it took off and spread around the U.S. It spent 21 weeks on the Billboard pop chart. and peaked at #9 on the Hot 100!
