Here’s To Beer: A Weekly Beer Blog Part 92!

By Tim Martin Apr 10, 2020 | 1:26 PM

Everyone knows it, but few are prepared to admit it. Craft beer causes a considerable amount of flatulence. Even though the ‘air biscuits’ can be quite boisterous, they are usually very harmless. Well, USUALLY….

Firestone Walker 2019 Parabola

This is one of the “big boy” beers. A Russian Imperial Stout with an ABV of 13%.

It pours black and a little thicker than a regular stout. Dark tan head with a boozy nose. Bourbon, smoke, oak is what I got on the nose.

I had this ice cold and had it in the fridge since December. This is one of those that will continue to age in the bottle.

Boozy bourbon flavor up front with molasses strong throughout. Some fig and smokey char on the back. It pretty sweet. More than I like. I’ve touted Firestone Walker a lot as they impress me with everything I’ve had from them, but this falls short for me. Maybe because it probably mellows and smooths out as it ages… I give it the benefit of the doubt that it is better a year or more older.

There are MANY local breweries that are offering online or phone orders with curbside pickup. This is a great idea for keeping the local businesses going through this stay-at-home time. Remember to support the locals by ordering food, or beer, or macrame, whatever it is the business offers. This is a win for everyone, especially your community.

Here are some breweries that are still brewing and offering the pickup service.

We are only filling new growlers at this time. If you do not want to come into the taproom to pick up the order give the taproom a call and we will bring your order out to your car in the parking lot. Check out our taproom location hours below. We also have new merchandise on our online store that you can pick-up or we can ship to you. We are offering free shipping on orders $45 and over this weekend only.
