Jerry Reed – Amos Moses
The incomparable Jerry Reed was quite a character. He was brash, funny, quirky and one hell of a guitar player.
Most see him with the Bandit, driving the big rig across the country or singing on Hee-Haw, but Jerry was an EXCELLENT guitar picker, the likes of Chet Atkins. In fact, they recorded a couple of albums together that are fantastic!
Jerry hit the Top 40 in 1971 with “Amos Moses” from his ‘Georgia Sunshine’ album.
Amos Moses was a Cajun alligator poacher with one arm who had many troubles with the law throughout his life when the sheriff tried to catch Amos, red-handed, hunting alligators by hiding in the swamp…. never to be seen again.
The song peaked at #8 on the Hot 100!
