Here’s To Beer: A Weekly Beer Blog Part 96! It’s back!

By Tim Martin Jun 12, 2020 | 10:53 AM

A labeorphilist is a collector of beer bottles.

I haven’t had any beer since before I got sick with Covid-19, May 13th. As you probably guessed, by the time I was out of the hospital and a week into isolation and recovery at home, I was beer-ready. I’d see commercials for crappy beer (in my opinion) and start to salivate. I wanted a GOOD beer ASAP. After talking to the doctor and asking if I could have a beer or two while on a blood thinner and antibiotics, he said a moderate amount would be fine and if it’s a good craft beer, probably even better as there are so many nutrients and other health benefits. ‘NUFF SAID! THANK YOU!

Great Divide Chocolate Cherry Yeti

Great Divide Brewing Company from Colorado has an amazing Yeti series of beers. This one is a monster with a TON of flavor.

It pour near black with a really nice two-finger light brown head. Check that pic! The nose is roasted malt, cherry, coffee and cacao. Strong nose just leads the immense flavor!

Taste is charred, roasted malty goodness with coffee up front and the cherry with a light bittersweet chocolate on the back. As you can see by the can, there’s quite a bit here to enjoy, but take it easy as this is a sipper. Mouthfeel is thick and oily with lots of carbonation. It comes in at 9.5 ABV but you don’t notice the alcohol because of the intense flavor profile. A very smooth and fun stout that I highly suggest!
