Chase – Get It On
Chase, the band, was named after it’s creator, Bill Chase, the well-known lead trumpet player from bands like Stan Kenton and Maynard Fuerguson. He incorporated his jazz technique into the growing jazz-rock fusion sound that was growing in the 60s and created a very soulful, jazz, rock and pop sound.
The only song that charted was a rocker from the debut album, ‘Chase’ in 1971. “Get It On” rose in the charts and peaked at #24 on the Hot 100 and helped move over 400,000 units of the album and helped it to peak at #22 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It spent a total of 26 weeks on that chart, no doubt, because of “Get It On” spending 13 weeks on the Hot 100!
