The Kinks – Apeman

“Apeman” by The Kinks was released December of 1970 as a single from the newest release, ‘Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One’ or known better as Lola Versus Powerman’.

Ray Davies expresses in the song that he’s tired of modern technology and modern way and longs to get back to nature living. He says if it was possible, he’d leave the world’s problems, created by man living in civilization and wanting power over others by owning land, and go to the jungle and live “as an Apeman”.

“Lola” was very well received and went to #9 on the Hot 100, and came from the same album, however, “Apeman” almost broke into the Top 40, stalling at #45.
