Winger – Easy Come, Easy Go
If it wasn’t for Beavis and Butthead’s nerdy Stuart character wearing a Winger shirt, Kip and the boys would have had a much better career. They are ALL excellent musicians and Kip is multitalented. A great songwriter of hooks, lyrics, and even classical compositions!
The band’s second album, ‘In The Heart Of The Young’ yielded many radio hits, “Easy Come, Easy Go” being one! It raced up the Hot 100, but stalled JUST outside the Top 40, peaking at #41.
Sadly, the band Winger, became a joke do to Beavis and Butthead. With Stuart wearing WINGER on his t-shirt, he was uncool so the message was that Winger was also uncool. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The musicianship in the band has ALWAYS been of high caliber and this is one of the VERY FEW bands that has remained with all four original members, plus one! When KOKZ had them a few years ago, with Kansas, they were EXCELLENT and extremely nice guys, backstage.
Kip studied classical music at the age of 16 and became entranced with the movements of ballet within classical compositions. He’s written for a ballet and was nominated for an Isadora Duncan Award for Excellence in Music for that work.
Kip Winger also composed a four-part work entitled C.F. Kip Winger: Conversations with Nijinsky, intended to celebrate the life of ballet dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky. The album was recorded by the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and reached the top of the Traditional Classical Chart on the Billboard music charts.
C.F. Kip Winger: Conversations with Nijinsky was nominated in the Best Classical Contemporary Composition category at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.
He also has a stage musical called Get Jack, where the five women Jack The Ripper killed, rise from the dead and take revenge on Jack. Winger and Damian Gray (writer of the book and lyrics) released the rock/orchestral Get Jack concept album in July 2019, which entered at #7 on Billboard‘s Cast Albums chart.
Kip is no hair band has been. Reb Beach continues to be in demand as a guitar wizard for other bands when Winger isn’t touring or recording.
