George Harrison – Ding Dong, Ding Dong

Here’s a holiday song released 46 years ago TODAY in 1974!

George Harrison had released his album, ‘Dark Horse’ early in December 1974. On the 23rd of December, the single, “Ding Dong, Ding Dong” came out and made it to radio quickly.

Recorded at his home, Friar Park, musician contemporaries Tom Scott, Ringo Starr, Alvin Lee, Mick Jones, Gary Wright, Klaus Voorman, Ron Wood and Jim Keltner were on hand for the sessions.

It had a “new year/auld lang syne” feel, bringing about “Out With the Old, In With the New” but became a winter holiday song all over the world. It hit the Top 20 everywhere but in the U.S. were it squeaked into the Top 40, peaking at #36.
