Featured on the 1980 fantasy movie that bombed, Xanadu, ELO and Jeff Lynne were the band that backed up Gene Kelly, Olivia Newton-John and Michael Beck as they sang and danced and roller-skated through a very odd film.
The soundtrack did very well. The movie, not so much.
Six singles were released of the soundtrack – five of them went Top 20!
Peaking at #13, “All Over The World” lists famous cities all over the world and one, not so famous – Shard End, the suburb of Birmingham, England where Jeff Lynne was born. Pretty sure Jeff being born there and THIS SONG out that town on the map.
