Fleetwood Mac – Oh Well, Part 1

Back when Fleetwood Mac were mainly a British blues band, before the Top 40 hits, the legendary and now late, Peter Green was lead guitar and vocals. He had a great voice and was nearly unmatched in guitar ability.

With Jeremy Spencer, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Danny Kirwin they were making excellent records and had lots of fans abroad and underground fans of the blues here in the states.

Sometimes, a unique track from that Mac would weave it’s way into U.S. FM rock radio… “Albatross” is one. A beautiful instrumental that is as haunting as it is smooth and beautiful. A long, guitar riff jam that became a single released as Part 1 and Part 2, each on its own side of a 45, the second part was mainly a beautiful classical guitar section with embellishments.

“Oh Well, Part 1” was Fleetwood Mac’s first single in the U.S. market, entering the Hot 100 in 1969 and peaking at #55!
