THIRTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD KATRINA BRINSON WAS THE WOMAN FATALLY STABBED AT A CEDAR RAPIDS MOTEL ON SATURDAY. POLICE ANNOUNCED BRINSON’S IDENTITY ON MONDAY. ANOTHER WOMAN WAS INJURED AND THE MALE SUSPECT IN THE INCIDENT WAS WOUNDED AS POLICE PURSUED HIM FROM THE SCENE. THAT MAN HAS NOT YET BEEN NAMED AND REMAINS IN THE HOSPITAL. THE SECOND WOMAN WHO WAS STABBED WAS TREATED AT A HOSPITAL AND RELEASED. POLICE SAID THERE IS NO KNOWN LINK BETWEEN THE MAN AND THE FEMALE VICTIMS.

A SEPARATE STABBING WAS REPORTED IN SOUTHEAST CEDAR RAPIDS ON MONDAY EVENING. THAT INCIDENT HAPPENED IN THE 500 BLOCK OF MCKINLEY STREET SOUTHEAST AT AROUND 6 O’CLOCK. INITIAL INDICATIONS SUGGEST THE VICTIM AND SUSPECT DID KNOW EACH OTHER IN THIS INSTANCE. THE UNNAMED VICTIM WAS HOSPITALIZED WITH A CHEST WOUND, WHILE THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED AT THE SCENE.

PRE-TRIAL FILINGS INDICATE THE VICTIM’S CELL PHONE WAS RECOVERED WHEN HAMED WAS PULLED OVER FOR A TRAFFIC STOP. POLICE ALSO REPORTEDLY RECOVERED THE GUN BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN USED IN THE SHOOTING AT THE SAME TIME.

CONGRESSWOMAN ASHLEY HINSON IS NOT GIVING UP ON HER REOPEN SCHOOLS ACT. SHE SPOKE ABOUT IT YESTERDAY ON THE FOX BUSINESS NETWORK. THE BILL WAS NOT CONSIDERED ON FEBRUARY 2ND WHEN IT WAS INITIALLY BROUGHT TO THE HOUSE FLOOR.

THE INMATE WAS PEPPER SPRAYED, BUT ANOTHER PRISON WORKER WAS INJURED TRYING TO SUBDUE HIM. BOTH INJURIES WERE CHARACTERIZED AS MINOR.
